Ms. K. Kavitha, the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has been named in the Delhi Liquor Scam.
According to sources, on the 1st of December, Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) named Ms. K. Kavitha, the daughter of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana. In a court filing over the investigation into the Delhi Excise Policy Scam, submitted to the Delhi Court, the ED alleged the involvement of many Hyderabad based businessmen including MLC Ms. K. Kavitha.
Ms. K. Kavitha’s name in the scam appeared as per the statenmnet of Mr. Amit Arora, a businessman arrested by the ED in the liquor policy scam. According to sources, the Gurugram based businessman and the Director of Buddy Private Limited Amit Arora has claimed that Ms K. Kavitha was a key member of the “South Group” which paid at least Rs. 100 crore in kickbacks to leaders of Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) via another arrested businessman Vijay Nair. Due to this connection, the ED has named Ms. K. Kavitha in the filing and is likely to investigate her into the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam issue.
Meanwhile, Ms. K. Kavitha, who denied the allegations of the ED, said, “Bachcha bachcha jaanta hai, Modi se pehle ED aatha hai (every child knows, ED arrives before Modi.)” She further said, ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) cases against leaders of her party, the TRS is now “low level politics.”
Ms. K. Kvaitha also said, she is ready to face any inquiry and dared Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, to put her and other TRS leaders in jail, if the BJP can prove any wrongdoings of the TRS leaders. Ms. K. Kavitha said, “We state that we will face any kind of inquiry. If the agencies come and ask us questions we will certainly answer. But tarnishing leaders’ images by giving selective leaks to the media, people will refute it.”
Addressing the media, Ms. K. Kavitha said, “You cannot win elections using your central agencies.” Highlighting the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, scheduled in 2023, Ms. K. Kavitha said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has destabilized 9 states in 8 years. She further said, the BJP would not be able to win against the TRS in Telangana and destabilise the Telugu State.
Meanwhile, after the ED named TRS leader Ms. K. Kavitha in the Delhi Liquor Scam case, many TRS leaders gathered outside her residence and expressed solidarity with her.
