The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees are firm about their decision to go on strike against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) starting at midnight on the 5th of October.
On the 2nd of October, the trade union leaders of the TSRTC met the TRS committee which was constituted to resolve the matter of the RTC unions in Telangana.
However, the meeting was not fruitful, due to which, the union leaders decided to go ahead with the strike. Though the TRS committee urged the TSRTC employees to continue working in view of Dussehra, the employees are expected to go on an indefinite strike from the 5th of October.
Ashwathama Reddy, the Chairman of the TSRTC Joint Action Committee (JAC,) said the strike will begin from midnight on the 5th of October. He also urged the citizens of Telangana to cooperate, for a peaceful strike.
The Managing Director of the TSRTC directed the RTC authorities to dismiss those who take part in the strike. According to sources, approximately 50,000 employees of the RTC will join the strike despite the notice.
The reason behind the strike is the long standing demand of the TSRTC employees to merge the TSRTC with the Telangana Government and improve the welfare schemes and insurance for the TSRTC employees.
