Revanth Reddy, the Working President of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Telangana and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, a member of the INC, are under house arrest.
The Telangana Police, on the orders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) put the leaders under house arrest. The orders came after the leaders asked the State Government to resolve the ongoing issue between TRS and the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC.) Since the 5th of October, the TSRTC employees are on an indefinite strike and are protesting against the State Government for not fulfilling their pending demands.
Revanth Reddy recently said if the TRS does not resolve the issue, he would protest outside Pragati Bhavan against the TRS.
The Telangana Police deployed tight security near Pragati Bhavan and arrested the leaders who were protesting in support of the TSRTC employees.
Apart from Revanth Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Naini Rajendar Reddy, the President of the District Congress Committee (DCC,) was also put under house arrest.
INC leaders in Wardhannapet, Mahabubabad, Jagtial, Sircilla and LB Nagar were arrested ahead of the protest.
The TSRTC strike entered its 17th day on the 21st of October and will continue until the TRS Government settles the matter.
