K. Keshav Rao, a senior leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) urged the TRS Government to consider the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees’ demands.

The indefinite TSRTC strike entered its 11th day on the 16th of October and there is no sign of a solution to the matter until the Telangana Government assures to fulfill the demands of the employees.

Apart from the strike, the TSRTC employees even called for a bandh after D. Srinivas Reddy, one of the RTC bus drivers of Khammam depot, set himself ablaze and committed suicide.

The TSRTC employees are demanding the TSRTC be merged with the State Government, along with the improvement of welfare and insurance schemes for the TSRTC staff.

However, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS Government refused to accept the demands and declared the strike illegal.  The Government even fired 1,200 employees and suspended 48,800 employees.

Keshav Rao is conducting talks with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) union leaders and also urged them to go for a mediation process and end the strike.

On the other hand, Keshav Rao urged the Government to consider the employees’ demands, except for the merger.

E. Ashwathama Reddy, the President of the JAC, said they are ready to resolve the issue and end the strike if the TRS is ready to mediate.

Ashwathama Reddy said, “Let the Government first begin the process of talks with us.”

The TSRTC strike started on the 5th of October.

Stay tuned for further updates.
