Forty eight thousand employees of the Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) are all set for ‘Chalo Tank Bund,’ a rally.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) and the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) organised the march and urged the TSRTC employees and their families to participate in it. The TSRTC employees are on an indefinite strike since the 5th of October, which entered its 35th day on the 9th of November. The rally was planned to protest against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for not considering the pending demands of the TSRTC employees.
One of the major demands of the TSRTC employees is merging the TSRTC with the State Government. Other demands include better welfare schemes and salary hike for the TSRTC employees.
Neither the employees nor the TRS Government is planning to step back and compromise.
The Telangana Police provided three layered security at Tank Bund and restricted people from entering the area. Besides, the Police erected barricades at Tank Bund’s entry points near the Ambedkar Statue as well as on Indira Park Road and Boats Club Road, Hyderabad. The restrictions were imposed from the night of the 8th of November.
Due to the security arrangements, school and office going individuals are facing inconvenience.
The Chalo Tank Bund rally is scheduled to begin from 1:00 P.M., and would continue till 4:00 P.M., on the 9th of November.
