According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD,) Telangana is to witness heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours.
The reason for the rainfall is said to be the depression in the central Bay of Bengal.
The depression is expected to move from west to north west and cross north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha coast.
The low pressure area is likely to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The rainfall is expected to lash districts like Adilabad, Komarambheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Warangal Urban and Rural, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam and Suryapet in the next two days.
In regard to this, KCR asked people to remain vigilant and cautious with the IMD alert of heavy to very heavy rains across the State.
The Chief Minister instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to keep the entire administration on high alert.
Mr. Rao asked Mr. Kumar to monitor the situation with the district collectors, superintendents of police and also police commissioners at regular intervals and take the necessary relief measures.
The Warangal Urban administration is on high alert fearing a recurrence of floodwaters creating havoc in the city, following the three-day heavy rain forecast in the region. The DGP M Mahender Reddy has also alerted the Warangal Commissionerate to keep an eye on water-bodies and low-lying areas besides coordinating with the municipal and irrigation officials. Meanwhile, the administration has put up barricades at open nalahs posing threat to denizens.
Meanwhile, the Urban District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu told the officials to be vigilant. He appealed to people living in the low-lying areas to call the toll free number 1800 425 1980 or WhatsApp 7997100300 in case they need any help.
Telangana is witnessing rainfall from the evenings of the 10th of October.
