The Telangana Government  decided to impose traffic restrictions at Tank Bund area of Hyderabad on Sundays, starting from today, the 29th of August.

After the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) completed The beautification works at Tank Bund, citizens of Hyderabad are visiting the areas, increasing the footfall, especially on Sundays. The beautification works done by the HMDA at Tank Bund is worth Rs. 38 crores which includes enhanced infrastructure and facilities for visitors.

It is to be noted, after the beautification works, Tank Bund is one of the favorite evening hang out spots for the people. Considering the increasing number of people, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Mr. K.T. Rama Rao suggested imposing traffic restrictions.  Acting upon the same, the State Police decided the restrictions, starting from the 29th of August. Today, it would be a trial run, following which the impose would be in effect every Sundays.

The Hyderabad City Police have been given the responsibility to ensure the convenience of visitors and people on the road. The planned traffic curbs would be imposed during the evening hours of Sundays. According to sources, the traffic police department has announced to restrict traffic movement on Sunday evening between 5:00 P.M.,to 8:00 P.M., at the Tank Bund. The police department is to close the road from both sides from Adarsh Nagar to RaniGunj and will be diverted towards Necklace road now known as PVNR Marg.

Meanwhile, the security arrangements at the hangout spot is strict under the 24×7 vigilance through CCTV cameras.

Anjani Kumar, the Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad, said the police would conduct a trial of the imposed curbs on the 29th of August, Sunday. After the successful trial, they would take a final decision with additional curbs.
