Y.S. Sharmila, the President of the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) took to Twitter and criticised the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government for their anti women stance.

Ms. Sharmila took to her Twitter handle and posted, “Is he (K.T. Rama Rao) talking like a chief minister’s son? They do not even have a proper representation of women in their party and the cabinet. Do they expect women to sit indoors?”

During a press conference today, the 17th of July, Saturday, Y.S. Sharmila said her late father and former CM of Andhra Pradesh (joint state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was never opposed to Telangana and himself recommended the formation of Telangana and appealed the same to the Central Government.

She said, “I have studied here. I am married here and have given birth to my children here. Why do you (TRS) consider me as an outsider.”

The war of words against the TRS over women stand and others started after the TRS Government President commented over the Tuesday Dharnas and said, it feels like periodic vrathams.

Highlighting the major agenda of her newly launched party, the YSRTP, Y.S. Sharmila said her Party would work for the growth and development of the State and its people, which the TRS Government failed to do. She said, “No one floats a party if they have problems with their maternal home. I have come here because the party (TRS) has failed the people after the formation of a separate state. Many youngsters are dying by suicide due to lack of jobs.” She further criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Central Government for supporting the TRS. She said, “The BJP is totally in league with the TRS in the State. If the BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay has proof against the TRS government’s corruption, why hasn’t the Centre taken any action till now.” She alleged the BJP of being a communal party, swinging towards Hinduism. She said, “We are a secular party. We are the only effective opposition in the State.”

It is to be noted, none of the three major parties in Telangana considered the YSRTP seriously. Since the launch on the 8th of July, neither the TRS, the BJP nor the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) commented anything serious regarding the new YSRTP.
