Y.S. Sharmila, the sister of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) is on a hunger strike at Indira Park, Hyderabad.
Ms. Y.S. Sharmila would protest and sit on 72 hours (from the 15th of April to the 18th of April) hunger strike against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Government.
Recently on the 9th of April, during a public meeting, Y.S. Sharmila announced a three days hunger strike.The hunger strike was to demand release of 1.19 lakh government job notifications for people including youth of Telangana.
The 9th April event was organised in the wake of the official announcement of the launch of her political party in Telangana. Y.S. Sharmila chose the 8th of July to be her Party launch day as it is the birth anniversary of her father, the late Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy. Y.S. Vijayamma, the mother of Y.S. Sharmila attended the event as the Chief Guest. While the official announcement of her Party was made on the 9th of April, the details, agenda and the name of the Party would be revealed on the 8th of July.
Meanwhile, in regard to the three days hunger strike, as of now, the Hyderabad police gave permission to Y.S. Sharmila for only one day.
The strike began at 10:00 A.M., and would continue till 5:00 P.M., at Indira Park, Hyderabad, Telangana.
