Y.S. Sharmila, the sister of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) is all set to launch her awaited political party officially today, the 8th of July.
Announced in April, the official launch was scheduled today, which is the birth anniversary of the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh (combined state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.) Marking the death anniversary of her father, Ms. Y.S. Sharmila would begin her political journey in Telangana.
Named as the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP,) the new Party is set to compete against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with a promise to bring the golden days of the State.
The announcement of the political outfit of Ms. Sharmila was made in April, after being granted approval by the Election Commission of India (ECI.)
According to sources, Y.S. Sharmila’s mother, Y.S. Vijayamma extended her support with a letter of no objection in this regard. However, her brother Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the President of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) refused to comment on anything.
Ms. Sharmila expressed her desire to follow the footsteps of her late father and said, “Exactly, on April 9, 18 years back from Chevella, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy began his Pada Yatra and he walked for 22 kilometres each day. Listening to the problems of the people, YSR has walked through places and that is the inception of various schemes that were later brought in by YSR.”
As per sources, the arrangements for the inaugural event of Y.S. Sharmila’s new Party would be a low key affair in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19( pandemic. During the Party launch, Ms. Sharmila is likely to announce her party’s agenda and role in Telangana. In addition, she would be unveiling the party flag and theme song.
In addition, considering the hard work and aim of Y.S. Sharmila for the new party, she is expected to contest the 2023 Assembly elections. An official announcement regarding the same would be made at the launch event.
