The YouWeCan Foundation, led by the former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, extended support to the Government Medical College and General Hospital in Nizamabad.

The non government organisation (NGO) organised 120 Critical Care Unit (CCU) beds at the hospital in Nizamabad, Telangana. In addition, the foundation has also provided medical equipment such as BiPAP machines, ICU ventilators, patient monitors, crash carts and oxygen cylinders to the hospital. The arrangements were made by the foundation with the financial support and collaboration with the company Accenture in Telangana.

Yuvraj Singh released a statement regarding the same and said, “We have all suffered tremendously during the second wave of COVID-19, including losing loved ones and struggling to procure oxygen, ICU beds and other critical care facilities when our family members were fighting for their lives.” He further added, “After witnessing such an unprecedented crisis and loss of life all around as well as going through a personal loss myself, I felt the need to step up to support our healthcare providers and frontline workers in their fight against this deadly virus. Through our initiative #Mission1000Beds, we are setting up COVID-19 critical care facilities at hospitals across the country to increase existing capacities.”

The initiative was under Mission 1,000 beds during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The efforts were made to ensure every needy individual gets a bed and proper treatment.

On the 28th of July, Wednesday, the two time World Cup Winner and Indian Cricketer Yuvraj Singh inaugurated the beds virtually. The Telangana Home Minister Mahmood Ali and delegates from Accenture and the hospital were present during the event.
