Yogeshwar Dutt’s 2012 Olympics Bronze Upgraded To Silver

Yogeshwar Dutt’s fight for a medal at Rio ended before it could barely start, with him crashing out in the preliminary rounds. All is not lost for the Olympian though. His bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, for the men’s 65 kg freestyle wrestling event, has been upgraded to a silver medal. Russia’s infamous state-sponsored doping program has presented Yogeshwar with this silver lining, quite literally.

A report by Russian agency flowrestling.org states that four-time world champion and two-time Russian Olympic medalist Besic Kudukhov, who had died in a car crash in 2013, has been found positive for dope test conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Consequently, his Silver medal from the 2012 Olympics has been stripped off him and awarded to Yogeshwar Dutt.
