A Hyderabad Local Court announced the verdict for the 2007 twin bomb blast case. Five people were accused of the incident out of which two found guilty and three were acquitted today. The quantum of punishment for the guilty, Akbar Ismail Choudhary and Anique Shafique Syeed will be delivered on the 10th of September by the special court of Central Prison Cherlapally. The police have beefed up security around the jail to avoid any riots.

The eleven year old case of twin bomb blast at Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park has finally been resolved. The blast killed 44 people and left another 50 injured. The accused Akbar Ismail Choudhary, Anique Shafique Syeed, Mohammed Saddiq Ahmed Sheikh, Farooq and Tarik Anjum are alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) militants.

The case was investigated by the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of the Telangana Police. They concluded that the blast was the handiwork of the Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives Riyaz Bathkal and Iqbal Bathkal who are the absconding accused in the case.

The reports also say that the real motive behind the blast was revenge for the blast carried out at the Mecca Masjid on the 18th of May 2007.

According to the sources, the IM team conducted a recce across Hyderabad and planted bombs at several places out of which two of them exploded.
