Eight people were killed and four were seriously injured when a pilgrimage bus fell into a valley near Valmiki Konda in a tribal area of East Godavari district, on the Chintoor Ghat road in Andhra Pradesh (AP.)
The incident took place on the 15th of October, when the bus with approximately 12 people lost balance and fell into the valley while going to Bhadrachalam, Andhra Pradesh.
The pilgrims, who were from Chitrakoot district, Karnataka, started the journey on the morning of the 15th of October to visit the Lord Sitarama temple and various other shrines in Telangana and AP.
The pilgrims were heading to Annavaram for the darshan of Satyanarayana Swamy temple when the accident took place.
According to sources, six of the pilgrims died on the spot, whereas two took their last breaths at the Rampachodavaram government hospital.
On the other hand, the injured are undergoing treatment.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, directed the officials of the East Godavari district to take care of the situation and provide treatment to the injured.
Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) also expressed grief to the families of the deceased.
