On the 22nd of July, the Andhra Pradesh Health department confirmed nearly 5,000 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. Of the total cases, 45% were reported in the past one week.
This is higher than any other state, barring Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. As a result, Andhra Pradesh is on fifth place in the list of highest number of COVID-19 cases in Indian states.
The top four are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, National Capital Delhi and Karnataka.
With the new cases, the total reached to 58,668 cases till date. This is the biggest spike ever in the State since the infection broke out
The single day spike in Andhra Pradesh is even more than any other state except Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the number of deceased with 62 new cases reached a total of 758 in the past 24 hours.
With these updates, Andhra Pradesh has a total 32,119 active cases, 22,896 recovered/discharged cases and 758 deceased.
The top four districts of Andhra Pradesh with the highest number of the Novel Coronavirus active cases are East Godavari (6,380,) Kurnool (3,970,) Chittoor (3,579) and Guntur (3,133.)
In terms of the Novel Coronavirus, Andhra Pradesh has now become one of the fastest growing states in the country. The cases are growing rapidly at a rate of 9 %.
In addition, the mortality rate of COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh is 1.29 % , the average growth rate of the infection is now 9 % from the previous 8% and the recovery rate now is reduced to 43.59 % from the previous 46.10 %.
Till the 2nd of July, Andhra Pradesh conducted a total of 13,86, 274 tests for the Novel Coronavirus.
The total population of the State as per 2019 data is 5,22,21,000.
