N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 24th of February, addressed a meeting and alleged the opposition party of conspiring against the development projects in Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Naidu challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister of Telangana, and Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) to join hands together and compete against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.
Naidu spoke these words during a meeting which was organised to welcome Kishore Chandra Deo, a former Union Minister, into the TDP.
Further during his criticism, Mr. Naidu also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enter Andhra Pradesh only after fulfilling all the demands and promises he made to the citizens of India. Naidu also claimed, the BJP Government is misusing its power and independent agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against the people and the states raising their voice against the ruling party.
Taking a dig at Modi, Mr. Naidu further claimed, Modi is being unfair and going easy on Jagan Mohan Reddy, even though Reddy has 11 cases registered against him. Naidu further stated, instead of dealing with Jagan Mohan Reddy, Modi is targeting Naidu for no reason.
Mr. Naidu’s anger is said to be due to the unfulfillment of his demand of granting a Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
The State is demanding the status since the bifurcation which happened in 2014, following which Andhra Pradesh and Telangana became two independent states.
Andhra Pradesh will conduct its Assembly elections between April and May 2019.
The State will contest 175 Assembly seats and the major parties contesting are the TDP, the YSRCP and the JanaSena Party.
