Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 4th of May, appointed Right to Information (RTI) commissioners in Andhra Pradesh. The appointment of the two RTI Commissioners came after a recent direction from the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which expressed displeasure over the inordinate delay in the appointment of full fledged Commissioners. 

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) appointed Kakarla Chenna Reddy and Ulchala Hari Prasad as Andhra Pradesh State Right to Information Commissioners. The names were suggested by a committee formed to appoint RTI Commissioners.

The final decision regarding the RTI commissioners would be taken by the Governor of A.P., Biswabhushan Harichandan. The names have been sent to the Governor’s office for approval. The Governor of A.P., is expected to approve and issue an official notification regarding the appointment by the evening, today.

The committee met today, the 4th of May and conducted a meeting chaired by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The meeting was held at the State Secretariat and was attended by the State Home Minister M. Sucharitha and senior officials.
