The Andhra Pradesh Government began the 4th phase of free rice and pulses distribution to the White Ration Card holders and migrant workers in the State during the nation wide lockdown.

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) announced a welfare scheme for the White Ration Card holders in the state in the wake of pandemic illness, the Novel Coronavirus.

The welfare scheme was announced from the 16th of April and distributed tons of rice and pulses to the beneficiaries three times since the lockdown started.

Approximately 1,48,05,879 families would  get free rice and peanuts under the scheme during the lockdown.

The State Government would provide free 5 kg rice and 5 kg of peanuts for the registered beneficiaries.

A total of 28,354 ration shops across the state would distribute the food grains and pulses with the help of issued coupons for the beneficiaries in a phased manner.  The village volunteers would have the coupons and would give to the card holders. People would be given a particular time, printed on the coupons to collect the free rations.   The distribution of rice would take place in a phased manner, morning, afternoon and evening.  The decision to provide coupons and distribute at different time slots was taken to maintain social distancing.
