On the evening of the 24th of June, the Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh took a crucial decision regarding the 10th and 12th boards exams 2021.

Adimulapu Suresh on the evening of the 24th of June, announced the cancellation of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Intermediate examinations 2021. The decision was taken after the Supreme Court (SC) reviewed a petition filed against the conduct of the exams amid the ongoing Wuhan virus pandemic.

On the 24th of June, the Apex Court reviewed a petition, expressed disappointment and lashed out at the State Government for their attitude of conducting exams despite the ongoing second wage of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) It is to be noted, on the 17th of June, the Top Court issued a notice to the Andhra Pradesh Government, for not cancelling the 10th and 12th exams in the State. In the latest hearing, the SC directed the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government to take a final decision regarding the exams.

Initially, the Andhra Pradesh Government was firm to conduct the SSC and Intermediate exams in the State. Despite several requests and criticism from the opposition parties like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the JanaSena Party, the State Government did not cancel the exams.

The A.P., Government was planning to hold Intermediate examinations from the 7th of July to the 25th of July, while the X th examinations from the 26th of July to the 2nd of August. As many as 4.5 lakh Xth class students and 5 lakh Intermediate students were registered to take the examinations as per the schedule. 

However, now with the direction of the SC, the State Government cancelled the examination.

After the SC hearing, Adimulapu Suresh, addressed the media and said he discussed the SC matter with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, decided to cancel the SSC and Intermediate exams.

Speaking about the results and further process, the State Minister said, it would take 45 days to conduct the exams and get the results. In regard to this, the YSRCP Government would form a committee, which would decide how to give marks to the students. A final decision regarding marks would be taken after the report of the High Power Committee.
