The Kanaka Durga flyover in Vijayawada is all set to open for public on the 16th of October,
Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the Union Transportation and Road Minister Nitin Gadkari would inaugurate the flyover, on the 16th of October.
Krishna Babu, the Principal Secretary of Road and Buildings Ministry confirmed the inauguration news.
Mr. Babu further said, the Union Minister would take part in the foundation and inaugural ceremonies of some projects in Andhra Pradesh.
The launch of the Kanaka Durga flyover would help the traffic to reduce in Vijayawada.
In addition, Vehicles running on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway could take the flyover instead of passing through the city.
Initially, the newly constructed flyover was schedule to open for public on the 4th of September. However the date was postponed due to the death of the former President of India Pranab Mukherjee.
Later, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) decided to launch on the 18th of September. Once again, it was delayed as Nitin Gadkari tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
Finally, the flyover would be inaugurated on the 16th of October.
The flyover is one of the major constructions in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada city.
Kanaka Durga flyover was sanctioned by the then Government, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2014.
The 2.3 kilometre-long flyover was constructed at a cost of Rs. 447 crores which connects Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
The total length of the flyover is 5.3 km including the approach road. It begins at Kummaripalem and ends at the Rajiv Gandhi Municipal Park.
