AP Govt Sends Resolution To Abolish Legislative Council To Central Govt

On the 28th of January, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRC) sent a resolution passed in the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Assembly to the Central Government.

On the 27th of January, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., tabled a resolution to abolish the Legislative Council of A.P., during an Assembly session.  The resolution was approved by a two thirds majority of the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) present during the session.

The Central Cabinet Secretary, the Law Department and the Central Election Commission would read the resolution which has been sent, following which there would be a Union Cabinet meeting.  After the Union Cabinet meeting, the bill would be introduced in the Parliament and it would come into effect after Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, gives his consent.
