The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government is making all the necessary arrangements for the aqua farmers to provide them electricity.

It is to be noted, the survey conducted to apply electricity subsidy to small and small aqua farmers who cultivate less than 10 acres in the Aqua zone will end at the end of this month, following which the electricity would be supplied.

All the eligible farmers of Andhra Pradesh would be getting electricity subsidies from the 1st of September.  In Andhra Pradesh, farmers cultivate 1.40 lakh acres of salt water and 3.89 lakh acres of fresh water with 63,343 electricity connections.  According to e-Crop Booking, there are 1,35,842 aqua farmers including 95,277 under 2.5 acres, 22,358 under 2.5 to five acres, 11,809 under 5-10 acres and 6,398 over ten acres.

However, in the State besides aqua farmers, land agricultural farmers are also using subsidized electricity in some places of the State. Furthermore, registered under one name, the electricity is being used by another person.

In regard to this, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government decided to apply the electricity subsidy only to the small and small aqua farmers within the area of five acres within the first zone and then increased that limit to ten acres.  Later, a survey was conducted with the Departments of Electricity, Revenue, and Fisheries to identify the farmers who are actually cultivating within the aqua zone.  The details such as under whose name the electricity connection is, how much area is covered by that connection and whether the pond has a license would also be covered.

The survey was started in May and 95% of the survey is completed, whereas the remaining work would be done by the end of August, following which a detailed list would be sent to the concerned authority for subsidized electricity supply.

Stay tuned for further updates.
