AP HC Directs SEC To Record Counting Of Votes In Hypersensitive Areas

The Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) on the 16th of February, directed the Andhra Pradesh Government and State Election Commission (SEC) to conduct recording for the counting of votes in hypersensitive areas.

The Court asked the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government to implement the State Election Commission’s order to record counting of votes in sensitive and hyper sensitive villages in the ongoing gram panchayat elections.

Former Advocate-General Dammalapati Srinivas has argued on behalf of petitioners, who said in order to have fair elections, counting of votes should be recorded.

The SEC gave orders on the 15th of February and asked to record counting of votes.

The High Court also said that returning officer should make an arrangement to record vote counting process if any voter in the village asks for it to ensure free and fair elections.

The Andhra Pradesh Grama Panchayat elections are being held in the State.  The four phased elections started from the 9th of February and would end on the 21st of February.

While two phases are conducted, two phases elections are yet to happen.
