AP HC Directs State Government To Take Action Against Lockdown Violators

On the 28th of May, the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) High Court (HC) directed the Andhra Pradesh police to register case against the lockdown violators in A.P.

The Court reviewed several petitions filed agaisnt a few political leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and one Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

Despite the lockdown implementation by the State and the Central Government, a few leaders violated the social distancing and lokcdown norms.

One such case was filed by the YSRCP Government against Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) who violated lockdown norms by conducting Mahanadu, annaual conclave of the TDP.

Revieweing all the eight petitions, the HC judges ordered to register cases against anyone who violates the lockdown.

The High Court also instructed the petitioners to file a complaint with Disaster Management Act, 2005 against those who have committed lockdown violations.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported a total of 3,245 cases of the Novel Coronvirus with 128 new cases on the 28th of May.

Out of the total 3,245 cases, 1,053 are active cases, 2,133 are discharged/ cured and 59 death cases.
