After the recent arrest of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Mr. Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao, the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Police filed a case against another TDP leader Mr. J.C. Prabhakar Reddy.

On the 31st of July, the Tadipatri Police registered a case against the TDP leader for his derogatory comments.

According to the registered complaint, the leader made derogatory comments against the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Tadipatri, Mr. Kethireddy Pedda Reddy. The case was registered under Section 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.) The YSRCP leaders alleged the TDP leader of provocation and creating a situation to disturb peace and harmony.

The derogatory comments by Mr. J.C. Prabhakar Reddy against the YSRCP Ex Officio were made after the 16 YSRCP councillors boycotted the election of the second municipal vice chairman of Tadipatri.

It is to be noted, an independent candidate Mr. Abdul Raheem was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Tadipatri Municipality. He was elected unopposed with the support and votes of the TDP leaders.
