Revanth Reddy, the Member of Parliament (MP) from Malkajgiri, on the 29th of June, resigned as the Working President of the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Reddy submitted his resignation letter to the INC and said he will support the Party without holding the position.

According to sources, the decision of Revanth Reddy came after Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC, submitted his resignation as the Party President.

Apart from Revanth Reddy, many INC members, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) resigned from their respective posts. They did so to honour Rahul Gandhi, who took the responsibility of the defeat of the INC in the Lok Sabha elections and quit as the President of the Party.

Ponnam Prabhakar, the Working President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC,) also resigned from his post.

Many INC leaders across the Country urged Rahul Gandhi to continue as the President of the INC, however, he turned down their request and resigned.

The INC members resigning from the Party is said to be a major drawback for the already weak INC. The decreasing number of members raises the question as to how the Party will stand strong as the opposition against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

Stay tuned for further updates.
