The Supreme Court (SC,) on the 1st of August, ordered the transfer of all the cases related to the Unnao rape case survivor to a Delhi Court.

The decision was taken by a bench of judges headed by Ranjan Gogoi, the Chief Justice of India (CJI.)

The decision came after the SC received a letter written by the victim and her family, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and the transfer of the Unnao case to a Delhi court.

In 2017, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a lawmaker of the Bharatiya Janata Party, raped the 15 year old girl at his residence in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.

Later, in 2018, after the CBI probe, Sengar was accused of rape. He is serving his jail term in a Lucknow jail.

The Unnao rape case is still going on, including the 4 other cases related to the same case and registered against Sengar.

The CJI also ordered the CBI to complete the investigation of the accident of the Unnao rape case survivor, which took place on the 28th of July. The CBI was also asked to file the charge sheet within a fortnight. Mr. Gogoi also ordered the CBI to complete the trials of all the cases related to the 2017 rape case in 45 days.

Ranjan Gogoi directed the Uttar Pradesh Government to give a compensation of Rs. 25 lakhs to the victim and Rs. 20 lakhs to the lawyer of the victim.

On the 28th of July, after the Unnao rape case survivor’s car rammed into a truck, her lawyer and she sustained serious injuries. They were admitted to a Lucknow hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. Her two aunts, who were with them in the car, died on the spot.

The SC also made arrangements for Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) protection for the girl and her family.

On the other hand, the BJP took action against Kuldeep Singh Sengar and expelled him from the Party.

The expulsion was announced days after the Unnao rape case survivor met with the accident, which was allegedly planned by Sengar and his people.

The investigation regarding the accident of the Unnao rape case survivor is still underway.

Stay tuned for further updates.
