On the 2nd of December, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) staged a protest against the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) when it announced the new Sand Policy.

According to sources, N. Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the TDP, along with Party leaders raised their voice against the sand shortage issue in Andhra Pradesh.

In regard to this, the TDP called for a protest and organised a rally with construction tools and gold measuring scales.

The TDP leaders said due to the new policy, increased prices of sand and illegal sand mining in the State, several construction workers lost their jobs. They said, sand which used to be free for the people of the State is now unaffordable.

However, the YSRCP Government denied this allegation and said there is no corruption in sand mining and supply of sand. The Party said there should be transparency in the sand policy, and ensured it to be accessible to the public with reasonable prices.

Highlighting the facts, the TDP leaders said due to the decisions taken by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, nearly 30 lakh people lost work.

In addition, the TDP leaders also criticised the ruling YSRCP Government of abolishing the previous free sand policy, without any prior information or announcement.

The sudden implementation of the new policy and abolishing the old policy resulted in shortage of sand, increase in prices and other issues for the underprivileged workers. The Party said considering the current situation many workers even committed suicide and a huge number of them are suffering financially.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the YSRCP Government itself had admitted in the press that the sand policy they had brought was a corrupt policy.

The main agenda and demand of the TDP through this protest is to ask the YSRCP Government to revoke orders and implement the TDP announced free sand policy.

Stay tuned for further updates.
