In Andhra Pradesh, a few Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders are under house arrest ahead of their Kondapalli visit.

On the 31st of July, the A.P., Police put TDP leaders V. Anita, Varla Ramaiah, K. Ravindra, Umamaheshwara Rao, N. Raghuram, K. Narayana, T. Sowmya, N. Meera and Ramakrishna Reddy under house arrest. The specific leaders are also the members of a committee formed by the National President of the TDP, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, to find facts behind the illegal mining in Kondapalli Reserve Forest in A.P.

Mr.Chandrababu Naidu alleged the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government of conducting illegal mining at the forest. Hence, to bring out the truth with facts and evidence, the TDP President formed a committee, which was scheduled to visit the forest today, the 31st of July.

However, the State Police stopped the members and put them under house arrest. The police said that there is no permission for their visit to the Kondapalli Reserve Forest area.

Meanwhile, reacting upon the house arrest, the TDP alleged the YSRCP of restricting them from visiting the forest. The Party also alleged the ruling Government of misusing their power to prevent the TDP members from inspecting the site.

In addition, Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy, addressed the media and said, “We have evidence that the mining taking place in Kondapalli is illegal. The reports by the Sub-Collector, Assistant Director of Mines Vijayawada and District Forest Officer Vijayawada have ordered to immediately stop the mining. Apart from that, to evaluate the extent of deforestation, a committee was supposed to be constituted. But none of this happened. With these two pieces of evidence we will approach the court of law. We will not be deterred by the ruling party’s actions. (sic.)”

The allegations of illegal mining at the Kondapalli Reserve Forest, against the YSRCP Government, came into light by the recent claims of the TDP leader Mr. Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao. The police even filed a case against the TDP leader for his visit to the Kondapalli Reserve Forest on the 27th of July.

On the other hand, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Government is yet to respond to the allegations and house arrest of the TDP leaders.
