On the 13th of July, a major fire broke out in Visakhapatnam’s Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City in Parawada, Andhra Pradesh.
The fire broke out during late hours of the 13th of July, at Visakha Solvents Limited plant of Parawada area of Pharma city, Visakhapatnam.
According to sources, there were only four people in the plant at the time of accident.
While one of the four persons K. Srinivasa Rao, a senior chemist is said to be dead.
Another one identified as Mallesh received 30% burns and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Remaining two people received minor injuries and were shifted to a hospital in the area.
Rajeev Kumar Meena, the Commissioner of Police of Visakhapatnam said, “Initially, we thought that the fire was in a dump yard in the Pharma City, but later we came to know that it was in Visakha Solvents plant. We are still assessing how it happened, but as per preliminary report there was a mishap in the reactor and fire broke out. The fire has been brought under control.”
Suresh Babu, the Commissioner of Police (DCP) in-charge in Visakhapatnam said,”A fire occurred at the unit of a company named Ramky CETP solvents Pvt Ltd at about 10:30 P.M., Three workers were working at that time. One person has been injured in the incident.”
With this accident at Visakha Solvents, the city in the last three months witnessed three major industrial accidents, including the one at LG Polymers on the 7th of May.
Another such incident happened on the 30th of June killing 2 people, due to a gas leak in Paravada area of Pharma City, Visakhapatnam.
The Visakhapatnam police registered a case and launched an investigation in the matter.
