Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 17th of October, decided to end the interview process for the government jobs in Andhra Pradesh (AP.)

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said from January 2020, candidates for government jobs would be hired directly based on written exams and merit.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO,) on the 17th of October, released a notification which read, “Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken a historic decision to do away with personal interviews in recruitment. He has directed the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to conduct the recruitment process in a transparent and foolproof manner.”  The release further added, “The chief minister wanted the Commission to ensure the whole process to be conducted in a foolproof and transparent manner to avoid legal hassles.”

The toppers of the mains exam would directly get job offer letters and there would be no interview round for the position.

Jagan Mohan Reddy took this decision during a meeting with Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) officers.  The meeting was held on the 17th of October.

During the meeting, Mr. Reddy also directed the APPSC officials to create a calendar for job replacements and recruitment and instructed them to conduct fair and transparent recruitment.

The AP CM also asked the APPSC officials to involve the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in conducting the mains exam.

L.V. Subramanyam, the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, directed the government departments to list the vacancies and prepare a recruitment calendar.

The recruitment exams are scheduled to be conducted between the 1st of January and the 31st of January every year.

Stay tuned for further updates.
