Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, clarified the stand of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government, regarding the change of NTR Health University.

On the 21st of September, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, he has great respect for the late NTR and that there would be no people who downgrade him in our country.   During the second last day of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Session, CM Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held  a debate on the bill to change the name of Health University.  He said, “It was unfortunate that the TDP members left the House after unnecessary quarrels and it would have been better if they had also been present during this discussion.  I have no anger towards NTR and have more respect for NTR than Chandrababu Naidu.”

Furthermore, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that he named the district after NTR as promised in the Padayatra despite nobody asking.   However, the reason behind changing the NTR Health University to YSR Health University, is to pay tribute to Mr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who was a doctor and always helped people, bringing medical growth of the Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh.  Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “YSR knows the value of life and is credited with bringing 108 and 104 services for public health along with the Aarogyasri scheme which is recognised all over the country.  As many as 28 medical colleges were established during YSR and YS Jagan regimes and not a single college in the TDP regime hence NTR Health University is renamed after YS Rajasekhar Reddy.”

The proposal to change the name was brought in a bill form during the Andhra Pradesh Assembly session, which is scheduled to conclude on the 22nd of September, Thursday.
