Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) wrote to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dated on the 24th of November, the letter was written, seeking financial assistance for flood relief in Andhra Pradesh. It is to be noted, in the past one week, due to the cyclone situation, the State witnessed heavy to moderate rainfall, creating flood-like situations, loss of lives, crops and property damage.
To control the situation and conduct relief measures, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) wrote to Mr. Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah. The YSRCP Government demanded Rs. 1,000 crore to be sanctioned under emergency flood relief. They also requested for a central team to assess the flood damage in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the State Government, a loss of Rs 6.54 lakh crore has been reported due to rains. The letter also mentioned the highest rainfall, recorded in four districts. The Central Government is yet to respond to the letter and sought financial assistance.
Meanwhile, due to the low pressure on the Bay of Bengal, the southern states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala are going to witness heavy rainfall for the next 2-3 days.
In Andhra Pradesh, heavy rains are likely to be in Nellore and Chittoor districts on the 26th and 27th and in YSR Kadapa district on the 27th of November.
