Central Government Orders 11 Million Doses Of SII Manufactured COVID-19 Vaccine

The Central Government on the 11th of January, gave an order of 11 million orders of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 vaccine. 

The order has been given to the Serum Institute of India, a pune based pharma company, which got approval for emergency use authorisation for COVID-19 vaccine.

The Serum Institute Of India is selling its Covishield vaccine at Rs. 210 per vial to the Central Government.

However, the SII would sell the vaccine at a higher price to private entities.

With this, the Government of India is set to roll out the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In the first phase, nearly 30 crore people including doctors, medical staff, sanitation workers, seniors above 50 years old and patients with comorbidities would get the vaccine.

The nationwide drive for the Novel Coronavirus vaccine is scheduled on the 16th of January.
