India COVID-19 Update: Reports 16,000 Above New Wuhan Virus Cases With 98.16 % Recovery Rate

On the 23rd  of October, Saturday, India recorded a surge in the new Wuhan virus, also known as the  Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

In the past 24 hours, India reported 16,236 new cases, 666 fatalities (approximately 400 more fatalities than yesterday) and 17,677 recoveries.  The new cases were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday morning.  According to the Union Health Ministry data, the total cases of the Wuhan virus reached 3,41,59,56, of the total 1,73,728 are active cases, 3,35,32,126 are recovered/discharged cases and 4,53,708 are deceased cases till date.  

The cases were confirmed after conducting a total of 13,64,681 sample tests, taking the number  of COVID-19 tests to 59,84,31,162 in India.  

The updated figures of the Wuhan virus are available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

In addition, the national recovery rate of the Wuhan virus improved to 98.16 %, fatality rate is at 1.33% and active cases of COVID-19 are at 0.52%.  India’s COVID-19 situation is improving with the precautions and steps taken by the Union and the state governments.  People’s contribution, who are following the COVID-19 appropriate behavior is also a major reason behind the new Wuhan virus cases being below 20,000.  Active cases are also in check with under 2,00,000.  

On the other hand, over 101 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far including 1 crore doses administered within the past 24 hours.  The vaccines were given under the nationwide vaccination drive. With the same speed, the Government of India is aiming to administer COVID-19 vaccine to 108 crore people by the end of December. 

Meanwhile, the Central Government has provided 102 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to various states and union territories (UTs) so far.  As of now, more than 10.20 crore doses of COVID-19 doses are available with the Indian states and UTs.
