The Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tested positive for the deadly Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 disease. The news of Mr. Gehlot being COVID-19 positive was confirmed through his tweet. 

Ashok Gehlot on the morning of the 29th of April, took to Twitter and informed.

(Today my report on getting the Covid test also came out positive. I have no symptoms and feel fine. I will continue working in isolation following the Covid protocol)

The 69 year old Indian National Congress (INC) leader took the COVID-19 test after his wife tested positive for the virus. Informing the same on the 28th of April, Ashok Gehlot took to Twitter and said, ” मेरी पत्नी श्रीमती सुनीता गहलोत कोविड पॉजिटिव आ गई हैं (असिम्प्टोमैटिक)। प्रोटोकॉल के अनुसार होम आइसोलेशन में उनका ट्रीटमेंट प्रारम्भ हो गया है। अब मैं एहतियातन आइसोलेशन में रहकर चिकित्सकों एवं अधिकारियों के साथ सांय 8.30 बजे रोजाना होने वाली कोविड समीक्षा बैठक लूंगा। (sic.)”

(My wife Ms. Sunita Gehlot has tested COVID-19 positive (asymptomatic.) According to protocol her treatment has started under home isolation. Now as a precautionary measure, I would isolate myself. I will hold COVID-19 review meeting with doctors and officials on a daily basis at 8:30 P.M.)

He immediately isolated himself at his residence and awaited his results, which came the next day, 29th of April.

In the past days, the Chief Minister had been actively taking part in offline meetings with officials to discuss the overall COVID-19 situation in Rajasthan.

According to the COVID-19 data, Rajasthan has 5,63,57 positive cases, of which 1,63,372 are active cases, 3,96,279 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,926 deceased cases. Meanwhile, Rajasthan is under complete lockdown till the 22nd of May, to curb the spread of the virus.
