Telangana COVID-19 Cases Rise Sharply With 500 Single Day Spike

The Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Telangana.

On the 27th of March, the State recorded 495 new cases of COVID-19. This is the fourth consecutive day, Telangana reported more than 400 cases.

Of the total new 495 cases, the highest were from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with 142 cases, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (45), Rangareddy (35), Nizamabad (30), Nalgonda (21) and Sangareddy (20).

Among other places that reported fresh cases were Mehboobnagar (18), Karimnagar (16), Khammam and Jagityal (15 each), Adilabad (12) and Yadgir Bhongir (11 each).

In addition to the COVID-19 cases, the State also reported 247 recoveries and 2 deaths.  

With this, the State has now 3.05 lakh positive cases, of which 2,99,878 are recovered/discharged cases, 4,241 active cases and 1,685 deceased cases.

Telangana is seeing a sharp climb back in active cases. A week ago, the active cases stood at 2,607 a week ago. In just a week, with everyday cases of minimum 400, the cases are now close to 4,300.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, the State tested 58,029 samples for the Novel Coronavirus, taking the total number of tests to 99,61,154.

In addition, the recovery rate of COVID-19 dropped to 98.06 % from the previous 98.58 %. However, the fatality rate remained the same at 0.55%.
