Telangana once again reported a massive number of Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases. In the past 24 hours, a massive spike of 7,754 fresh positive cases and 51 deaths were reported in the State. Besides fresh cases and 51 deaths, Telangana also reported 6,542 recoveries from the Novel Coronavirus.

Of the total new cases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limit reported the highest number of cases with 1,507 followed by 630 cases from Medchal Malkajgiri, 544 from Rangareddy, 325 from Sangareddy, 281 from Karimnagar, 279 from Siddipet, 267 from Nizamabad, 255 from Jagtial, 242 each from Suryapet and Vikarabad, 231 from Nalgonda, 230 from Khammam, 216 from Mancherial and 208 from Warangal Urban. The remaining cases were 203 from Nagarkurnool, 173 from Yadadri Bhongir, 165 from Warangal Rural, 162 from Peddapalli, 143 from Kamareddy, 109 from Adilabad, 108 from Bhadradri Kothagudem, 106 from Medak, 103 from Wanaparthy, 102 from Rajanna Sircilla, 101 from Komaram Bheem Asifabad, 100 from Jogulamba Gadwal, 86 from Nirmal, 74 from Jangaon, 73 from Jayashankar Bhupalpally, 44 from Narayanpet and 41 cases from Mulugu.

The updated figures were confirmed by the Telangana Health Department. The State Medical Department released a media bulletin regarding the same.

With this, currently, Telangana has 4,43,360 positive cases, of which 3,62,160 are recovered/discharged cases, 78,888 are active cases and 2,312 are deceased cases. 

In addition, between the 26th and the 27th of April, Telangana Medical Department conducted 77,930 COVID-19 tests.

Of the total tests conducted, reports of 5,186 are pending. Meanwhile, so far, 1,29,83,784 tests have been conducted in Telangana.

With this, Telangana currently has an 83 % recovery rate and 1.14 % fatality rate.

Meanwhile, recently, the Telangana Government said it could not provide vaccines to all those above 18 years of age from the 1st of May.

The Government of India (GoI) announced the beginning of the third phase of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 vaccination drive in India.

On the 19th of April, the Central Government said, everyone above 18 years old would be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination. The third phase of the drive which would include individuals above 18 years is scheduled to begin from the 1st of May.
