Telangana Government Increased COVID-19 Treatment Centres, Turns Nizamia General Hospital Into Quarantine Centre

Telangana’s Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases surged to 900 everyday, the Health Department decided to increase laboratory and quarantine centres for people.

In regard to this, the Telangana Health Department, on the 4th of April, issued an order to convert the Government Nizamia General Hospital into a quarantine and medical center for COVID-19 patients. As per the orders, the State run hospital authorities would ensure availability of 250 beds with oxygen facility within 48 hours, from the 4th of April.

In addition to the Nizamia General Hospital, King Koti District Hospital, Chest Hospital and Gandhi Hospital are also the centers designated for the COVID-19 infection treatment. These hospitals are in addition to the facilities available at Gandhi Hospital and other health facilities for COVID-19 treatment.

In the past few days, Telangana is reporting a massive rise in the Novel Coronavirus cases. Recently, the State surged to 1,000 single day spikes, raising concerns with the State Government and Health Department. The K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) directed officials to ensure people are following guidelines to curb the spread of the virus. As of now, Telangana has more than 6,000 active cases from the previous below 2,000 active cases.

Meanwhile, the Nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive is also being held in the State.
