The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a warning of another deadly pandemic.
On the 24th of May, Mr. Tedros Adhanom Gjebreyesus, the Chief of the WHO, issued a warning that the world must get ready for the next pandemic. He further said, the said pandemic might be “even deadlier” than the present Wuhan Virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Mr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “The end of COVID-19 as a global health emergency is not the end of COVID-19 as a global health threat.” He further said, “The threat of another variant emerging that causes new surges of disease and death remains, and the threat of another pathogen emerging with even deadlier potential remains.” Alerting the world for another pandemic, the WHO also said “When the next pandemic comes knocking-and it will-we must be ready to answer decisively, collectively, and equitably.”
The new pandemic alert came at a time when the nation is still fighting from the Wuhan Virus pandemic, though it is in a stable form currently, there are still active cases of the Novel Coronavirus, maintaining alarming concerns.
