Pandit Jasraj, a legendary classical singer and vocal of India, passed away on the 17th of August.
Pandit Jasraj died in the United States of America (U.S.A.) The news of Pandit Jasraj’s demise was confirmed by his daughter.
Pandit Jasraj passed away at the age of 90 due to health related issues.
Mr. Jasraj started his classical music career at an early age, which spanned nearly 80 years. He was from Mewati Gharana of Indian classical music.
Pandit Jasraj won manu awards including the Padma Vibhushan award.
Pandit Jasraj had the honour of a minor planet, between Mars and Jupiter, being named after him. Iternational Astronomical Union (IAU) had named minor planet 2006 VP32 (number -300128), discovered on November 11, 2006 , as ‘Panditjasraj’.
He was also awarded Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan besides many other honours.
His last rites are expected to be held on the 18th of August.
