Oscars 2016: Leonardo DiCaprio Wins Best Actor For The Revenant

Finally, Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio won the best actor award for the film “The Revenant“. At the star-studded big night of the Oscars 2016, the actor was honoured with the award for delivering the best ever performance in the much-appreciated film “The Revenant”. This is the sixth nomination and first win for the Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor finally walked off the stage on the Sunday night with the coveted gold trophy.

During the acceptance speech, he said, “Making ‘The Revenant’ was about man’s relationship to the natural world…climate change is real”. He added, “It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.” He concluded, “I do not take this night for granted.”

In a statement, Leonardo said, “I am so grateful to the Academy for their recognition of this film. Making ‘The Revenant’ was one of the most rewarding and collaborative experiences of my life. None of this would have been possible without Alejandro’s talent, vision and determination. Our dedicated crew also deserves to share in this moment. Together, they have created a truly unique cinematic experience. Congratulations to all of my fellow nominees this season. Thank you to the Academy.”
