Today, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Leader Suraj Pal Amu was admitted to Gurugram Hospital in Haryana after he fell ill. Amu’s illness came just hours before he was scheduled to be produced in Haryana Court. The Supreme Court is also hearing a plea filed against Amu over his protest against the movie Padmaavat.
On the 26th of January, Suraj Pal Amu was sent into judicial custody over his statements against Padmaavat. Amu was taken into preventive detention. Preventive detention means the imprisonment of a person with the aim of preventing them from committing further offences or of maintaining public order.
In November 2017, the BJP Leader Suraj Pal Amu offered Rs. 10 crore bounty for beheading the Actress Deepika Padukone and Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He claimed that Bhansali distorted the historical facts and showed Queen Padmini in a bad light in the film.
