Shah Rukh Khan Announces A Few Initiatives To Support GoI Against Coronavirus

Shah Rukh Khan, the Badshah of Bollywood, announced  a few initiatives to support the Government of India (GoI) to fight against the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

On the 3rd of April, Shah Rukh Khan announced a collaboration with his companies, Red Chillies Entertainment and Red Chillies GFX, along with the IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders ((KKR) to support the Central Government.

In his tweet, Shah Rukh Khan wrote, “n these times it’s imp to make everyone around u working tirelessly for u.. not related to u.. perhaps even unknown to u… to feel they are not alone and by themselves. Let’s just make sure we all do our little bit to look after each other. India and all Indians are One Family.”

Besides this, the actor announced to help in the fight against the COVID-19, which has been declared as a pandemic illness by the World Health Organisation (WHO.)

The initiatives announced by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan are:

  1. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR,) and Meer Foundation, a Non Government Organisation (NGO) to work with the West Bengal Government and Maharashtra Government to provide 50,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE.)  The PPE will help all the medical staff to be protected from the COVID-19.
  2. Meer Foundation along with Ek Saath: The Earth foundation, will provide daily food requirements to nearly 5,500 families for one month in Mumbai, Maharashtra.  Besides, the actor with his companies would also provide a space for a kitchen set up to send out 2,000 freshly cooked meals every day to help households and hospitals whose daily needs aren’t being fulfilled.
  3. The actor would also provide Rs. 2,500 to daily wages workers in Delhi.
  4. The NGO would also provide support to 100 acid attack victims during the lockdown in Mumbai.

The actor said, ‘This crisis is not going to pass in a hurry, it will take its time and its toll on all of us. It will also show us that there isn’t really a choice between looking out for ourselves and looking out for one another. There’s nothing more obvious in the spread of this pandemic, than the fact that each one of us is inextricably connected to each other, without any distinction.”

Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Virat Kohli and other celebrities also donated an amount to the PM CARES Fund, to fight the Novel Coronavirus.

India is currently having 2,640 positive cases of COVID-19, out of which 2,374 are active cases, 192 recovered and 74 reported deaths.

Concerned about the increasing numbers, people are advised to stay home and follow social distancing and lockdown strictly.
