Bollywood is soon going to have a biopic movie on the life of Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of Indian Cricket team and the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI.)
Sourav Ganguly finally agreed for his biopic on the big screen. In an interview recently, Sourav Ganguly said, “Yes, I have consented to appear in the biopic. It will be in Hindi, but the director’s identity cannot be revealed at this time. Everything will need to be finalised for a little longer.”
The estimated budget of the upcoming movie is said to be between Rs.200 to Rs. 250 crores. In addition, the chocolate boy of B-town, Ranbir Kapoor is expected to play Sourav Ganguly in the movie. However, two other actors are also rumored to be in the running for the role and a final decision is awaited.
In addition, the film would be produced under a big banner production house, whose name is yet to be revealed. Speaking about the script, as per media sources, the script is being written and would be completed and finalised soon. The film would depict the cricket journey of Sourav Ganguly, also popular as ‘Dada,’ from being the Indian Cricket Team Captain to the BCCI Head.
Bollywood is showing immense interest in filming a biopic on cricket legends. In the past, there were films about the life of M.S. Dhoni (M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story,) about Mohammad Azharuddin (Azhar,) and about Sachin Tendulkar (Sachin: A Billion Dreams.)
In addition, another movie titled 83, on cricket legend Kapil Dev, who won the 1983 World Cup, is set to hit theatres soon. Bollywood’s top actor Ranveer Singh is playing the role of Kapil Dev in the film. The final date of the release is yet to be announced.
With this, Sourav Ganguly’s biopic would be the 5th movie about Indian cricketers.
