The Hyderabad Traffic Police is soon going to introduce LED speed breakers at the signal of KBR Park in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The traffic police decided to introduce the innovative LED speed breakers to prevent the riders from ignoring the traffic signal, especially those who jump traffic signals and give the excuse of not seeing the red light.
The traffic police are now experimenting with the LED speed breakers at the KBR Park junction. If successful, they will install the speed breakers across the City. The LED speed breakers will work automatically and will switch colours along with the traffic lights installed at the KBR signal.
The LED speed breaker will work as a signal to the riders from a distance, so they can slow down the speed of the vehicle and stop at the signal.
M. Narsing Rao, the Inspector of the Traffic Police, said, “The LED lights were embedded in the road after digging the surface. It is waterproof and will have little effect during rains or water stagnation. We are only experimenting now. Based on the results, a decision will be taken to install it in the rest of the City.” He further added, “Drivers often make excuses of not seeing the red light or a big vehicle blocking their view. But it will not be the case as the signal is right on the road surface.”
The LED speed breakers will not only help the riders follow the traffic signal, but will also curb the increasing number of road accidents and cases of rash driving in Hyderabad.
