Nitesh Narayan Rane, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Maharashtra, assaulted a government official.
On the 4th of July, Nitesh Rane, with the help of his supporters, poured buckets of mud on Prakash Shedekar, a highway engineer, at a bridge near Kankavali Mumbai-Goa Highway.
The incident took place during the afternoon of the 4th of July when Nitesh Rane was inspecting the pothole ridden highway.
The video, posted by ANI, showed an angry Nitesh ordering his supporters to pour buckets of mud on Prakash, following which, they even tried to tie him to the bridge with the help of a rope.
Nitesh was angry with potholes on the road and asked Prakash if the latter knew about the issues the people are facing because of his work.
Nitesh Rane said, “Do you even know the condition of people? You are only in a hurry to construct pillars. Who will construct the gutters? How will the water flow? How can you be so careless? Do you even know how people travel on this road.”
Finally, he concluded by asking the crowd standing there to pour mud on Prakash and said, “Throw this on his head.. now do you understand… Now I will show you.. I will take you in my car and throw you in the mud.”
Recently, Akash Vijayvargiya, a member of the BJP, assaulted a government official in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Vijayvargiya was later granted bail.
The incidents of assaults on government officials are becoming common these days. The MLAs of the political parties, in the name of public welfare, assault and humiliate government officials.
Another incident like this recently took place in Telangana as well, when Koneru Krishna, the brother of Koneru Kannapa, a MLA of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party (TRS,) assaulted a woman officer of the Forest Department. The case against Koneru Krishna is still under investigation.
Nitesh Rane is the son of Narayan Rane, the President of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in Maharashtra.
Twitter is flooded with posts criticising Nitesh Rane for his actions.
