Tejashwi Yadav, a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD,) on the 15th of May, wrote a letter to Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar.

In the letter, Yadav criticised Nitish Kumar for making statements against his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, the President of the RJD.

On the 13th of May, during a public rally in Nalanda, Bihar, Nitish said, “Lalu will not get out of jail no matter what he does. His family has been repeatedly alleging that Lalu was framed by me and he is in jail due to me. It is a baseless accusation because he was convicted by the court and sentenced to jail.”

Tejashwi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nitish for conspiring against Lalu Prasad Yadav and sending him in jail.

Tejashwi in his letter also highlighted the Muzzafarpur Shelter Home case, where a few ministers, molested and harassed girls living there.

He said, “Nitish uncle, this is the biggest irony of your rule that the person who is raising the voice of the poor, is sitting in the jail today and you are in love with your beloved ministers who were accused in the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home molestation case. The one who was involved in the abomination with innocent girls. You are celebrating and cutting the cake with Brajesh Thakur, one of the accused, whereas he is operating your election rallies.”

He further said, “Bihar knows that the thief who has grabbed voter’s votes by fraud has sat on the chair of Bihar today and is sitting on the chair of the country today and they know who is destroying the life of the people by showing false dreams to them.”

In the facebook post and letter, Tejashwi also spoke about the developments in Bihar under the Government of Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Tejashwi Yadav took a dig at Kumar for his false claims about developments and said, the bulb and the road he (Nitish) is highlighting as his achievements are of 2004 to 2014 under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA.) Ministers like Lalu Prasad Yadav, Raghuvansh Babu and other development ministers worked hard for the State and rose above the tactics and party politics for the State.

Tejashwi further asked Nitish about his contribution to the same. He said, “ How much of your contribution has been made in this? You have been a cabinet minister in the Centre from 1998 to 2004 but tell how much amount of money was received for Bihar’s development works.”

Tejashwi also challenged Nitish to conduct a debate on financial help given to Bihar for development and asked to not lie to the people about his role in the development process.

Bihar was once upon a time a backward State, with issues such as electricity, education and irrigation issues. However, Lalu Prasad Yadav with his schemes contributed to the State.

In 2002 to 2004, Bihar grew economically with a rate of 4.86 %, whereas the literacy rate in the State was 27 % at the time.

Tejashwi Yadav ended his letter, with the words,

Aakhiree charan ka matadaan
Phir NDA (National Democratic Alliance) hoga arntadhyaan
Lautega sukh chain ab jalegee laalaten.

(Last phase of the Lok Sabha elections, then the NDA will be invisible. Then again happiness would be part of Bihar, now the light of happiness will be there in the State.)

The last phase of the Lok Sabha elections are scheduled on the 19th of May.

Major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar are, the RJD, the UPA led by the Indian National Congress (INC) and the NDA led by the BJP.

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.

Stay tuned for further updates.
