On Saturday, a car bomb killed at least 21 people and injured 42 others in southeastern Baghdad. The wounded were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. The police and hospital officials confirmed the incident. The car bomb was detonated on the side of the road in the Nahrawan area, according to local authorities.
According to the local police, the attackers targeted the Shiite pilgrims walking to Baghdad’s holy Kadhimiyah shrine. But few other officials said that that attackers targeted an open-air market. Further details are awaited.
