Sri Lanka Government lifted an overnight curfew imposed in several parts of Colombo and other regions in the nation.

It is to be noted, a group of people, staged a protest outside the residence of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.  The people staged a violent protest over the worsening economic crisis in the country.  During the protest, approximately 50 people including police officials and journalists were injured and were hospitalized.  As per the media sources, the Sri Lanka police arrested 45 people including women, involved in the protest.  Injured people were shifted to Colombo National Hospital (CNH) and Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila.  In addition, the police said several vehicles including an army bus, jeep, three-wheeler, two traffic motorcycles were set on fire during the protest. 

However, after the controlled situation, the Sri Lankan police authority lifted the curfew.  Mr. S.S.P. Nihal Thalduwa, the Spokesman of the Police said, “The curfew was lifted at 5 am today (the 1st of April.)

The curfew was imposed within the Colombo North, South, Colombo Central, Nugegoda, Mount Lavinia and Kelaniya Police Divisions last night. 

Meanwhile, the arrested people would be produced before the court.
